Belly Dance, Level 1 / Beginners
This is a course in the fundamentals of Belly Dance as they are taught in the Suhaila Salimpour method/format.  Movements are broken down, repeated and ‘drilled’ in preparation in using them in dance.  Much focus is placed safe posture and on what muscles you use for each movement.  The goal is to solidify the technique needed to eventually be able to layer movements and work at faster tempos.  Class often ends with a combination or short routine where we let loose and incorporate the movement of the week.  This class is excellent for people with previous dance experience and also people who may not be new to Belly Dance, but who are unfamiliar with the technique.

Kizomba / Fundamentals
Kizomba is a dance and music genre from Angola and means "party" in one of the local languages
Kizomba is a simple beautiful couple dance where family members, friends or partners dance either in an open embrace or a close hug. It can be slow with a sensuous flow, or complex involving faster steps, footwork and tricks. The beauty and simplicity of its basic steps allows any inexperienced dancer to quickly enjoy the pleasure and fun of social dancing much faster than with any other type of couple dance.  It can be defined as Semba (another Angolan dance) danced on Kizomba music.  Kizomba music first appeared in the early 80’s and is an Angolan interpretation of the Caribbean music genres Zouk and Cadence with an input of other local music.  This is a social dance but you register individually and do not need a partner to participate.
